And for those who don’t know, Baklava Recipe is a Middle Eastern dessert par excellence, made essentially from filo dough, stuffed with chestnuts and finished with a sweet drizzle of syrup.

Ingredients for the syrup

  • 500 g of honey
  • 300 g of sugar
  • 1 glass of water
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/2 lemon
  • 1 orange

Ingredients for baklava

  • 350 g of walnuts
  • 150 g of almonds
  • 200 g of sugar
  • 1 packet of filo pastry
  • 200 g of melted butter
  • Cinnamon powder to taste

Preparation mode

  1. In a pan, start making the syrup by adding the honey, sugar, water, cinnamon, lemon drops and orange peel;
  2. Mix well, leave on low heat for about 10 minutes, strain and set aside;
  3. Place the walnuts and almonds in a bag, close it, wrap in a cloth and use a rolling pin to beat, breaking the ingredients into small pieces;
  4. Transfer the walnuts and ground almonds to a bowl, adding the sugar and cinnamon;
  5. Take a rectangular aluminum shape and cut the dough to fit in it;
  6. Grease the mold with melted butter, place the dough, spread butter over it and add the bran from the bowl;
  7. Repeat this process until you form three layers and the last one is dough with melted butter on top;
  8. In the pan, cut this dough into squares, then into triangles and bake for about 40 minutes or until golden;
  9. As soon as you take it out of the oven, add the syrup to moisten the whole candy and serve when it cools down.

Turkish baklava

Ingredients for the syrup

  • 500 g of honey
  • 1 glass of water
  • 200 g of sugar
  • lemon drops
  • 2 cinnamon sticks

Ingredients for baklava

  • 1 package of puff pastry
  • 300 g of crushed walnuts
  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 400 g of melted butter

Preparation mode

  1. For the syrup, put all the ingredients in a pan, mix, let it boil for about 10 minutes, then strain and set aside;
  2. In a bowl, mix the walnuts, sugar, cinnamon and set aside for the filling;
  3. Take a baking sheet, grease it with melted butter and cut the dough to fit it;
  4. Add 7 sheets of dough, always passing butter, put the stuffing and repeat this process until you form 5 layers of dough and 4 of stuffing;
  5. Cut this dough into squares and take it to the oven, preheated, for about 40 minutes;
  6. Remove from the oven, pour the syrup on top and serve when cool.

Baklava with almond and walnut

Ingredients for the syrup

  • 180 g brown sugar
  • 50 ml of honey
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 2 thin pieces of lemon peel
  • 200 ml of water

Ingredients for baklava

  • 150 g of chopped almonds
  • 150 g of chopped walnuts
  • 2 teaspoons of cinnamon powder
  • 50 g of melted butter
  • 9 sheets of filo pastry

Preparation mode

  1. For the syrup, add all the ingredients in a pan, let it boil for about 10 minutes, then strain and set aside;
  2. In a bowl, mix the cinnamon powder with the walnuts and almonds for the filling;
  3. In a roast, grease with melted butter, put 3 sheets of filo pastry and spread more butter;
  4. Add half of the stuffing and repeat this process until you form 3 layers of dough and 2 of stuffing, always buttering the dough;
  5. Cut the baklava into squares and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes or until golden;
  6. Remove from the oven, pour the syrup on top and serve when cool.

4. Baklava with pistachios

Ingredients for the syrup

  • 200 g of sugar
  • 120 ml of water
  • 5 ml of lemon juice
  • 3 ml orange blossom water
  • 1 packet of filo pastry

Ingredients for baklava

  • 80 g of pistachios
  • 80 g of pecans
  • 65 g icing sugar
  • 2 cardamom seeds
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 225 g of melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

Preparation mode

  1. For the syrup, add all the ingredients in a pan, let it boil for about 10 minutes and set aside;
  2. Grind the walnuts and pistachios, place in a bowl and mix with the sugar, cardamom, cinnamon and salt to make the filling;
  3. Take an aluminum roast, grease it with a little melted butter, add 2 sheets of the dough, spread more butter and add a little of the stuffing;
  4. Repeat this process forming layers of stuffing and dough, always passing butter, until the last layer is dough;
  5. Cut the baklava on two diagonals, forming diamonds, and bake for about 1 hour or until golden;
  6. Remove the baklava from the oven, pour in the syrup and serve when cool.
